Data Access Portals

Important Note (April 2009): These services are now deprecated and may be removed at any time.

All MACHO data is now available via IVOA compliant services located at http://macho.anu.edu.au

The new MACHO data services are fully compliant with current Virtual Observatory service standards, as specified by the IVOA. For full information on service standards, refer to the IVOA standards documentation.

For a brief description of the new services provided, see the user guide. For a brief description of how to perform some common data access tasks with them, see the how-to guide.

For email enquiries regarding this process.

Statistical Summary Tables Retrieve statistical summary data in both color bands for all stars within a MACHO Field. User selects Field. Returns, via ftp, a gzipped ascii table containing: MACHO star id, RA/Dec, and lightcurve's median instrumental mags, error flags, and numerous stats.

Data available for all processed MACHO Fields.

Lightcurve Search Lightcurve selection based on bounded region. User provides centerpoint RA/Dec and radius. Returns user defined number of lightcurves in closest proximity to the centerpoint. Includes a lightcurve viewer and supports ftp based download of lightcurve data.

Data available for all processed lightcurves.

Lightcurve Download No frills lightcurve download. User provides the MACHO star ids (defined by Feild.Tile.Sequence triples) of lightcurves to retrieve. Includes a lightcurve viewer and supports ftp based download of lightcurve data.

Data available for all processed lightcurves.

Variable Star Search Variable star lightcurve retrieval. Allows selection based on RA/Dec, MACHO star id, classification, and various statistics. Includes a lightcurve viewer and supports ftp based download of variable star lightcurve data.

Dataset comprises a subset of the variable stars identified in the MACHO lightcurves.

Macho Image Search Observation summary data and image retrieval via ftp. Allows selection based on RA/Dec, observation number, observation date, exposure time and other environmental characteristics.

Accesses all observations successfully archived from the MSO 50" telescope dating from July 1992 (Obs 274) to July 2001 (Obs 113120).

Image Download No frills image download. User provides observation numbers of images to retrieve via ftp.

Accesses all observations successfully archived from the MSO 50" telescope dating from July 1992 (Obs 274) to January 2003(Obs 128602).

Template Image Download Provides ftp links to all MACHO Field photometry template images. Also provides RA/Dec boundaries for MACHO defined Domains and Fields.

Accesses all MACHO template images.

Downtime Information The MACHO data repository and these web interfaces are hosted by the ANU Supercomputer Facility. Service downtime information is available here.
